But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’ Jeremiah 7:23
The Federal government of Nigeria has clearly told Nigerians to brace up for a difficult year ahead because of the economic policies that have decided to adopt in their efforts to revamp the economy. It is a common fact that anywhere people are forced to live in austerity because of one reason or the other, crime escalates because living now becomes a struggle in which only the fit survive. But the fact of the matter is that this bleak news is not for the children of God because the life we live is not dictated by the political-economy of the country because we, by our financial conduct of tithing and giving various offering to God have put ourselves under the influence of the heavenly economy.
When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. (Genesis 26 – NLT)
Daylight takes the shine away from a huge halogen lamp because the light of the sun has brightened up everywhere. But the beauty and glory of the halogen lamp is revealed when there is darkness. God stopped Isaac from going to Egypt when a severe famine hit the land and permitted him to go to the land of the philistines where he sowed and reaped an hundred fold to the envy of the philistines. He definitely would not have had the same results if he had gone to Egypt. Obedience to the will and instructions of God during trying times is crucial to survival, preservation and sustenance. The Bible tells the accounts of several great destinies that were destroyed by acts of disobedience to the will and instructions of God. This year, let your obedience to the will and instructions of God be complete if you must survive the harsh economic situation that is unfolding.
